UK’s largest fully integrated forestry company installs Heliex system as part of new £2.5m Biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant at its Carlisle Mill, allowing it to generate 200kW of low cost electricity as well as renewable heat.
Our client is a biomass developer working on a project for a UK timber products company that has recently invested £11m in biomass technology across its mills in the UK and Latvia to generate sustainable heat for the kiln drying process.
A number of innovative technologies capable of generating electricity from biomass fuel were explored, with a view to maximising the sustainable and financial returns from this new state of the art biomass plant.
A 3.2 MW steam raising biomass boiler was installed with a Heliex HP 204 GenSet connected to generate 200kW of electricity for use onsite in the sawmill production processes.
The exhaust from the Heliex HP 204 GenSet provides heat for the kilns, treatment plant and offices.
